About Selah
In a world where storytelling is both an art and a revolution, Selah Major stands at the intersection with camera in hand and creativity in heart.Hailing from vibrant San Antonio, Texas, Selah brings a fresh perspective to the screen as a queer, disabled individual determined to amplify the voices of underrepresented communities.Her filmmaking journey began at the ripe age of 14 when she started to take acting classes and, shortly after, signed with a local talent agency. Selah began honing their artistic skills at The North East School of the Arts, a selective magnet program for gifted and talented students, where she was admitted after a rigorous application and audition process. At age 15, during the Summers between school years, she began working for a local casting director and found herself increasingly drawn to the behind-the-scenes action of filmmaking.At 19, she continued to expand her filmmaking knowledge when she moved to Austin, TX, where she shadowed indie filmmakers and worked on various film projects as a freelance creator. Driven by an unyielding passion for learning, Selah pursued and earned a BA in Multidisciplinary Studies, with a focus on Business and Film Production, from The University of Texas at San Antonio. Her achievement holds special significance as she is the first in her family to attain a college degree.
Selah continues cultivating her craft through diverse projects that span from the heartwarming to the avant-garde. Armed with a quirky sense of humor and a penchant for the unexpected, Selah fearlessly navigates the cinema landscape, infusing each frame with personality and purpose.Selah's short film Nova has been selected by four esteemed film festivals, and her collaborative effort, Soul of Word, clinched a Remi Award at WorldFest Houston 2024, solidifying their place as a rising star in the film industry.Beyond accolades and laurels, Selah Major is on a mission to challenge norms, provoke thought, and spark change through the power of storytelling.
